Craps Craps is played against the casino, not against the other players. Up to
sixteen players can participate at one time, depending, of course, on the
size of the table. To begin the game, as with most games, each player makes
their initial bet with the minimum amount being determined by the table. The
first roll by the shooter is called the “come-out roll”, if that roll is a 7
or 11 and if it is “craps” (a roll of 2, 3 or 12) the game is over. Any
other roll on the come-out roll is the “point” and a white marker is placed
on that number on the table. After “point” is determined, if the next roll
is point, the game is over and bets on the “Pass Line” win, those on the
“Don’t Pass Line” lose. If that roll is a 7, the game is over and bets on
the “Pass Line” lose and the “Don’t Pass Line” win, this also means that the
turn of the current shooter is over and is passed to the player on the
shooter’s left. Any other roll means that the game continues and the shooter
rolls again. Any bets on the Pass Line can be increased, but not removed
during the game; while bets on the Don’t Pass Line can be removed or
lessened, but not raised. If the game is ended on the come-out roll or point
was rolled again, the shooter has two options; he or she can decide to
remain the shooter for the next game or they can pass the dice to the next
shooter, who would be the person on his or her left. If the game is ended
for any other reason, the shooter has to pass the dice on to a new shooter.
